Flora & Fauna of the Florida Keys

FIU's Center for Coastal Oceans Research proudly offers a seventh semester of this continuing education course. This course consists of ten half-day field trips throughout the Florida Keys. Meeting on Saturday mornings at sites scattered along the length of the Florida Keys archipelago, the course provides an introduction to natural communities, plants and animals of the Florida Keys. The course examines the fascinating differences between the islands, and how nature is responding to the presence of humans. The cost of this class is $299, and includes a field manual. The classes will meet on September 7, 24, 21, 28 & October 5, 12, 19, 26, & November 2 and 9th.

Participants are asked to also reserve November 16th and 23rd as potential “Rain Dates.” Note: If you represent a public agency interested in this course for your staff members please contact the course’s instructor directly.

 Scientific Diving Course

Scientific Diving

Through the Medina Aquarius Program, CCOR supports the for-credit graduate (OCB6927C, 2 credits) and undergraduate (BSC4473C, 3 credits) Scientific Diving classes that are offered in conjunction with the Environmental Health and Safety workplace scientific diving program. Each class section combines graduate and undergraduates taking the class for credit with professionals receiving the training for workplace safety reasons.
